Friday morning we took a flight up to Sacramento to have Christmas with the Conkle's! We arrived early afternoon and were greeted by the Conkle clan as well as Paw Paw and Aunt Harriette from Oklahoma. We all caught up on lost time and then we all decorated a Gingerbread house together with loads of candy... lots of fun! Then the preparations began for the Conkle's traditional Christmas Eve dinner...
We had a creamy corn chowder soup, a nice salad and crab legs! It was fun to crack open all the crab and dig around for the sweet crab meat... very delicious. After dinner we finally announced the news about home and we toasted to that! Then we had dessert and port and we headed off to candlelight service at their church... it was so special to light our candles in honor of Christmas Day at midnight!
Christmas morning we slept in and had a leisurely late brunch and then attacked all the Christmas presents under the tree!
Ry was happy to play with his furry friend Benson, who loved all the attention :)
Ry's cousin Austin came to join us for Christmas Day as well, we had a full house! As usual, Santa was beyond generous with our stockings and gifts... we are so very thankful.
After we cleaned up the wrapping paper mess, we went outside for some fresh air and then came back to prepare for the big Christmas Dinner...
It was so fun to hang out with my sister and of course Paw Paw, he is such a good sport and goes along with everything we do... he is the best!
Christmas Dinner was a success... we had a leek soup and salad followed by beef filet, roasted potatoes and green beans... topped off with lots of wine, a pumpkin bread pudding and toffee! Needless to say, we had all dined sufficiently! We played a round of domino's before tucking away to bed... we were all due for a good nights' rest!
Sunday morning we slept off our food coma and took off to Roseville to see Dave, Rebecca and Max (my favorite little boy ever). It was so fun to see their new home, we couldn't be happier for them.
We played with Max and talked about the arrival of their baby girl in April!!! Max will have a beautiful sister to play with soon... they will be the perfect little family, we are so excited for them!
After visiting with Dave, Rebecca and Max we drove back to Carmichael to visit Gabe, Diana and Zander... yes it was definitely a full baby day... pressure is on haha! It was so fun to visit with our dear friends and catch up on old times, we love them all so much.
We got back from visiting our friends and had to pack up to go back home... what a perfect Christmas weekend, we couldn't be more blessed with all of our loved ones and God's plentiful bounties. Now it's on to our SIX YEAR Anniversary and New Year's... lots more celebrations to come!
