For Memorial Day weekend this year we decided to go to Palm Beach and Miami! Ry and I have never been there and wanted to see what all the talk is about! We took a red-eye Friday night and arrived into Miami at 6am on Saturday.. it was an easy flight and as soon as we stepped off the plane we were hit with Miami's awesome 80 degree temperature... I was in heaven! We rented a car and drove out to Palm Beach for our first night.
We checked into our gorgeous hotel called the Omphoy Resort... paradise. Right on a white sandy beach with as turquoise as ocean water can get! We had to refrain from immediately going down to the ocean... we needed a couple hours of sleep! After our power nap, we finally headed down to the water, rented a cabana for the day and lounged by the ocean all day. The water was 85 degrees, perfect.
After our relaxing beach day, we got ready and had cucumber martini's on the terrace overlooking the sunset. We then went upstairs to have dinner at Michelle Bernstein's restaurant.
We had Coconut and Curry Thai Snapper followed by a Filet Mignon with Broccolini and Whipped Potatoes. Every bit was delicious and we ended with a gourmet Banana Coconut Gelato cake. Everything about the Omphoy exceeded our expectations, we will definitely be going back!
Sunday morning we had breakfast on the terrace at the Omphoy, soaked up our last peaceful hours on Palm Beach and checked out by noon. We drove back down to Miami to spend a night exploring the Miami area. We checked into Bal Harbour One Resort... another stunning property right on the beach in North Miami. We had drinks at their bar and were driven to the Bal Harbour shops in style (a brand new blacked-out Mercedes- we felt like celeb's haha). We walked around, soaked up the cosmetic surgery capital of the world, and window shopped at all the fancy stores. We then returned to our amazing room on the 14th floor, seriously the most beautiful room we've ever stayed in.
Sunday night we got ready to see Nicolette and Andres in their new penthouse apartment in Coconut Grove. Nic cooked us a delicious dinner, we had great wine and played Cranium. It was so fun to see my old roommate all grown up and married, we are so happy for them!
Monday morning we had breakfast on Bal Harbour's Terrace and included in our rate was a pool-side cabana with a private hot tub.. we were treated like royalty and loved every minute of it! Unfortunately we had to cut it short, we still had to see South Beach! We packed up, checked out and explored South Beach.
South Beach was not what we expected... kind of deserted and way too hot! We figured it was more of a night-life spot! But we got a good taste of it and then we found the Lincoln Shops, which was like an upgraded 3rd Street Promenade.. very cute and European looking. After walking around, it was time to call it an end and head to the airport. What a great trip, Ry and I had the best time seeing new places and exploring another new city together. We loved Florida and hope to go back again soon!
