We decided to plan a little weekend get-a-way to our favorite place to taste wine.. Napa! We flew up early Saturday morning, rented a car and made our way to Napa... first stop was Silver Oak of course!
The weather couldn't of been more perfect... it was a beautiful fall day just for us :) Silver Oak Cabernet's are amazing.. just in case you didn't already know! Their tasting room and winery were equally as amazing... we loved it!
After Silver Oak, we headed into Yountville to grab a quick lunch at Bouchon Bakery... we had filled baguette's and macaron's.... the best lunch ever. We hope to taste more of Keller's foods at the French Laundry one day ;) After lunch on the patio, we went to Mumm's to taste some champagne!
We had flights of champagne.. the best way to go so that you can taste all of their yummy bubbles. The tasting room was so pretty... in a covered sun room overlooking the vineyard.
After Mumm we had to make a stop at Rombauer (our favorite)... so convenient that it's right next door to Mumm! We tasted our favorite Rombauer wines and needless to say... we reached our "happy" point! We somehow (thankfully) made it to Calistoga, where our adorable little hotel was located.
We stayed at the Hotel D'Amici.. a little bed and breakfast inn with only a couple rooms... it was so charming and romantic!
We had our own fireplace and extra large bath tub... it was perfect. Our intentions were to check-in to our room and get ready for our dinner reservations at Terra but all of the sudden all the wine hit me and was making me not so "happy" anymore... unfortunately I had reservations with the toilet seat instead! Ry wasn't feeling so hot either so we rested and managed to walk downstairs to a home-style Italian restaurant right below us... all I can remember is that the bucket of breadsticks and marinara sauce were just what the doctor ordered...
Thankfully we slept off our rough night and woke up to sunshine and a breakfast in bed... the perfect way to start our day. After breakfast we got ready and explored Calistoga a bit, such a cute little town. We got coffee's and checked out of our hotel... we headed back towards Napa and made a stop at the Culinary Institute of Napa.
Such a great place.. we learned so much and got to see where many top chefs earned their degrees. We even got to see a cooking class in progress... what a fun activity to do one day! From there, we headed into Sonoma for lunch... we had never been to Sonoma so it was fun to explore the charming town. We got salads and sandwiches at a little French spot on Sonoma's Square and enjoyed it in the Square Park on some benches... it was so gorgeous outside, we had to soak it up.
Unfortunately it was almost time to head back to the airport but we made one last stop at Gloria Ferrer's winery to taste some bubbly... delicious as always and we enjoyed our last sips in Napa on their beautiful terrace with the view above. What a perfect Napa weekend (minus the incident last night!) and one we will never forget! We decided to make this an annual trip, there is so better way to relax than this!
